A Waterfront Legacyin the Heart of the Florida Keys

Before the Overseas Highway connected the Keys, travelers arrived here by boat, drawn by the abundance of the surrounding waters and the promise of life at the edge of the sea. Today, Faro Blanco remains a place where journeys begin.

Where Marathon'sStory Continues

Anchored by Marathon's iconic lighthouse and surrounded by some of the most vibrant waters in the Florida Keys, Faro Blanco has welcomed anglers, adventurers, families, and island dreamers for generations. Here, the rhythm of the day is still guided by the sea, from sunrise departures and afternoons spent exploring the islands to evenings gathered beneath colorful Marathon sunsets.

The LighthouseAn iconic beacon

The Faro Blanco Lighthouse stands as one of Marathon's most recognizable landmarks and enduring symbols of the Florida Keys. Designed by Les Barrett, built by Archie Rackley, and long serving as a private aid to navigation, its history is woven into the story of the community it overlooks.

The Legacy of Pappy Parrish A vision that shaped Marathon

Few individuals left a greater mark on Marathon than William Allen "Pappy" Parrish. Entrepreneur, fisherman, community leader, and visionary, Parrish helped transform a small island fishing village into the thriving community visitors know today.
In 1939, he built the family's waterfront Dream House, now known as the Parrish House Villa, creating a lasting connection between Faro Blanco and the history of Marathon. His belief in community, hospitality, and the future of the Florida Keys earned him the title "Father of Marathon," a legacy that continues throughout the island and at Faro Blanco today.

The Faro Blanco Experience Shaped by the Sea

Long before Faro Blanco welcomed its first guests, these shores were home to the people who first navigated and settled the islands of the Florida Keys. Generations later, fishermen, boat builders, and settlers would follow, drawn by the same waters that continue to define life in Marathon today.
Through changing tides, powerful hurricanes, and decades of transformation, Marathon has remained resilient. The sea has shaped every chapter of its story, influencing the community, traditions, and way of life that make this island unique.
Today, that connection endures at Faro Blanco, where boating, fishing, waterfront traditions, and unforgettable sunsets continue to bring people together along the shoreline.

The Story Continues

While much has changed over the years, the spirit of Faro Blanco remains remarkably familiar.
People still gather here to watch the sunset. They still set out before sunrise in search of adventure. They still come to celebrate milestones, reconnect with loved ones, and create traditions of their own.
What began as a small waterfront outpost has become one of Marathon's most recognizable destinations, yet the same connection to the water, the community, and the Florida Keys continues to guide every experience.
Faro Blanco has never simply been a place to stay. It's a place to return to.
